mixiTUI on danish radio show “Harddisken”

On 31th of March 2010, Danish National Radio station DR P1 had a 10 minute feature on mixiTUI.

The feature was a part of the program “Harddisken” that had a theme on the universe of music technology. In addition to mixiTUI, the program has features on the phonograph, noise machines and handheld synthesizers. The full-lenght program can be podcastet here.

mixiTUI at Education Without Borders

Last week mixiTUI was demoed during the Education Without Borders Exhibition as a part of the Future People booth at the Bella Center in Copenhagen.

A total of 20.000 visitors went through the entrance and a lot of them showed their skills as mixiTUI performers.

The exhibition will hit Aarhus on the 23th and 24th of February… so if you’re nearby, drop in and give mixiTUI a go. More info at www.uug.dk

Two events coming up!

This December brings you two mixiTUI events.

On December 9th Esben Warming Pedersen (the creator of mixiTUI) will join the 12th Pecha Kucha CPH. Pecha Kucha invites designers, architects, musicians or other creative souls to talk about their projects in the Pecha Kucha format: 20 elements of 20 seconds duration per person. mixiTUI talk/concert @ ITU

On December 10th Esben Warming Pedersen will give a talk at The IT University of Copenhagen. The event is hosted by SIGCHI.dk, but is open to others. For further info visit www.sigchi.dk

The Mad System (a danish electronic musician) will also join the event and give a small concert / demonstration. The audience will also be invited to try mixiTUI themselfs.

mixiTUI – rebuild!

We are currently building a new table for running mixiTUI. The table will be more compact and mobile than the old table, making it much easier to do concerts, talks and demos.

The new table will be build as a DSI setup (Diffused Surface Illumination) which will result in a more stable fiducial and finger tracking than in the current setup. For other NUI-designers, here is a list of the hardware being used:

Radio recordings

On 23th of October the Danish National Radio visited the Department of Computer Science at University of Copenhagen. The purpose of the visit was to record interviews for a popular danish IT radio show called “Harddisken”.

The danish electronic musician “The Mad System” was invited to play some of his music and talk about how he uses mixiTUI.

The show will be available as podcast during december. Stay tuned for more information.

mixiTUI workshop

In August twelve electronic musicians participated in a week long mixiTUI workshop at Testrup Folk Highschool. The workshop was a part of a summer course called Auguku, in which 150 young people gather to forget about their every day obligations and just focus on painting, sculpting playing music or doing theater.

The twelve electronic musicians – who hadn’t previously worked together – teamed up in groups of three and produced one track a day per group. Every day had its own musical theme / genre, and by the end of the week a full set of dub step, techno and noise electro was ready. The workshop ended with a collaborative mixiTUI concert in which the musicians debuted as mixiTUI performers by playing their music live in front of 150 people.
